NEW National Road Transport
- Heavy Vehicle Driver Fatigue laws are to commence on 29 September
2008.

New Regulations have three levels of Fatigue Management:

Standard Hours - basic work and rest time
limits

Basic Fatigue Management* - more flexible
work hours linked
to accreditation.

Advanced Fatigue Management* - create your
own safety
management system and work hours linked to accreditation

*these Fatigue Management options must
be registered with the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme
(NHVAS).

The new laws require not only driver to be trained but also supervisors
to be trained.

The regulations require an adjustment in thinking, as they:

change the focus from regulating driving hours to
managing driver
fatigue
are based on 'Risk Management'
introduce only two categories - Work and Rest
recognise Long hours & Night work as 'High Risk'
impose limits on Long Hours & Night Work.

In short, participants will learn about:
Heavy Vehicle Driver Fatigue (HVDF) reforms
Chain of Responsibility and OH&S
Understanding Driver Fatigue
Implementing HVDF reform in your organisation
Monitoring the implementation of fatigue management
strategies.

| Duration: |
